When beautiful young actress Lisa Small (Kristen Kerr of David Lynch’s “INLAND EMPIRE”) is cast as the tragic victim known as The Black Dahlia in a film about Hollywood’s most famous unsolved murder, an entire dreamworld awakens around her. Meanwhile, a local sociopath has set out on a copycat murder spree timed out with the 60th anniversary of the original killing. A spider’s web grows around Lisa as her nightmares and desires intersect with the death toll rising around her. She delves deeper into the film script while the killer sets his target on her. Ultimately, she must live out the last days of The Black Dahlia.

Halo-8 has also slated Abed’s next feature “IN A SPIRAL STATE” for a limited theatrical run followed by DVD release in late 2009.

HALO-8 bites into XOMBIE at AFM

Posted in Uncategorized on November 13th, 2008

- Indie distributor acquires worldwide rights to animated zombie adventure -

Los Angeles, CA, November 13, 2008 - Halo-8 Entertainment has secured worldwide distribution rights to "XOMBIE: The Animated Series" by James Farr , an animated zombie adventure which developed a massive online following with webisodes downloaded over 13 million times. Halo-8 has slated the project for a limited theatrical release in early 2009, followed soon after by release on DVD.

"XOMBIE is a blast!" said Matt Pizzolo , President of Halo-8. "James Farr has a fresh and engaging storytelling voice that’s amplified by his inventive production style. It’s a rare mix that breathes life (and undeath) into his fun and compelling characters. We’ve been fans of his work for a while now, and we’re really excited to work with him and the great team at Xombie, Inc."

“As the first sentient zombie in an animated series, XOMBIE provides a completely new twist to the horror genre, which is why it has resonated so well with the fans," said John Frank Rosenblum , XOMBIE’s Executive Producer. "Halo-8, a distributor with a true love for horror, is the perfect partner for expanding this unique property into a whole new market.”

"XOMBIE is my attempt to inject something new and fun into an often over-mined genre," said XOMBIE creator/writer/director James Farr. "I am thrilled it has gotten such a huge response and that the characters have endured so long. Dirge and his friends are very close to my heart, and thanks to Halo-8, I get to share them with a brand new audience."

XOMBIE is the story of Dirge, a dead man with a mind of his own, who struggles against his posthumous cravings (not to mention legions of the living dead) to reunite a lost child with her family.

Halo-8 will work with Xombie, Inc. on additional XOMBIE animated media to follow, joining a slate of animated features in development at Halo-8 including in-house adaptations of Halo-8 comic books GODKILLER and HOW I LOST MY VIRGINITY -BY ALEXANDRA JONES.

XOMBIE has previously been adapted into a comic book and graphic novel by Devil’s Due Publishing , as well as a self-published illustrated novel. In its second week of release, the XOMBIE illustrated novel ranked #4 behind Watchmen and 300 on Amazon.com’s graphic novel sales rankings. Producer Epic Level Entertainment is currently developing a live-action XOMBIE adaptation for a major studio.

Xombie, Inc. was formed in 2006 to expand and manage the XOMBIE property, created by James Farr. Originally launched by James in 2003, the XOMBIE animated series has displayed an unparalleled appeal to viewers of all ages, tastes, and backgrounds, resulting in over 13 million downloads of the first ten episodes. Xombie, Inc. is managed through Epic Level Entertainment (www.epiclevel.com ), an innovative entertainment company with development and production expertise in film, television, internet media and games.

Yup, this site is under construction AGAIN.

Halo-8 Studios has pretty much outgrown its old web infrastructure, so we’ve got a team of monkeys hard at work clicking and dragging us into the new year.

All you press & retailers will be happy to hear we’re streamlining the b2b offerings so you can grab high-res key art, graphics, and photos super fast & simple.

And all you movie lovers will be happy to hear we’re organizing this schizophrenic library of films so you’ll get a better sense of how all these movies fit together. We’ll also be upgrading our trailers so you can see bigger, higher-res previews of our films before you go download them from your favorite torrent sites (I mean, ‘buy them from our webstore’–oops!).

If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure to check out our new Watch Now website TELEVANDALISM where you can stream or download our movies and also read webcomix and blogs. It’s in beta while we tweak it out, so let us know what you think. We’re about to upload a slew of new movies and comix and soon enough we’ll have a regular flow of new content. Al Gore said we gotta stop making landfills full of shiny plastic discs, so I guess we oughta use the internet he invented to zap movies at ya!

In other news, Cheetara is wicked hot.

Thanks, and please let us know what you like and what you hate about what we’re doing!

We got sent to the principal’s office :(

After Dark Films got all mad at us for naming our Halloween party-&-screening-series “8 Films To Kill For: Halo-ween Fest” cuz they have that “8 Films To Die For: After Dark Horrorfest” and thought it would be cool to have their lawyers kick us in the balls. First of all… killing and dying are two totally different things. Killing is pretty badass and dying is for suckers, so we thought it was pretty obvious who was who. Oh well.

So the new name is “Halo-8: Films That Kill” and you can read a bit about the brouhaha here
